Surface Preparation Guide for Plascon Metallic Paint

Plascon Metallic Paint Surface PreparationBefore using Plascon Metallic Paint, ensure that all surfaces are clean, dry and free from dirt, oil, grease and any contaminants.

New Surfaces:

Cement Plaster, Gypsum Plaster (e.g. Rhinolite or Cretestone):

  • Apply one coat PLASCON PLASTER PRIMER.
  • Apply one or more coats of a suitable PLASCON TOPCOAT in the required colour to achieve a solid base coat colour. Allow to dry thoroughly.

Previously Painted Surfaces in Good Condition:

  • Clean down thoroughly with POLYCELL SUGAR SOAP as directed. Rinse well to remove all traces of the soap solution. Sand glossy/enamel surfaces.
  • Apply one or more coats of a suitable PLASCON TOPCOAT in the required colour to achieve a solid base coat colour. Allow to dry thoroughly.
  • All other surfaces must be suitably prepared.

  1. Please can you help we with the procedure to create an unexpected rich finish using metallic copper to paint a bedroom. Size +- 45m2. PLEASE can you send me examples, also the quantities of different products I would have to use.

    • Hi Peter, thanks for getting in touch. We have emailed you some examples of metallic paint finishes / techniques. Give us a shout if you didn’t get it.

      Please note: A base coat of a colour similar to the metallic colour must be applied as a base coat in a polvin and then one can choose the intensity of the metallic by how many coats are applied.

  2. Hi, please could you email me the instructions to recreate the same type of finish that is on your Plascon Trends website. It was from an article by Catherine Bowen 15 July 2013 (photo source was Sanmarcoromania.ro) It was for a DIY for Plascon Trends metallic and pearlescent paint.
