A step-by-step DIY guide to repainting steel window frames

STEP 1: Remove peeling paint with Plascon RemovALL All Purpose Paint Remover. Rust can be treated by using Polycell End Rust to create an impervious film on the metal.

STEP 2: Wash the window frames with Plascon Metalcare Waterbased Degreaser, rinse well with clean water and allow to dry.

STEP 3: Prime the windows with Plascon Metalcare Metal Primer for a long-lasting barrier against rust.

STEP 4: Finish your window frames off with 2 coats of Plascon Waterbased Enamel for a durable, long-lasting and chalk-resistant finish. Plascon Waterbased Enamel is available in a wide range of tinted colours. It dries fast, so you will be able to close your windows on the same day you paint them.

  1. Dear Sir/Madam,

I have MDF (impact edging kitchen doors). The MDF has never been pained or sprayed before. I need advice whether to paint or spray them. What would I use for the following:

    1. Painting
    2. Spray-painting

    Thank you
