David Asbury – Umhlanga’s new Paint Expert

David Asbury opens the doors to his second Paint Expert store in Umhlanga, KZN

After the success of the first Paint Expert store in Hillcrest, radio personality David Asbury has expanded the unique and innovative paint retail concept to a second store in Umhlanga, which opened in May 2013.

Since opening the doors to his first store, customers haven’t been able to get enough of the stylish, home-away-from-home paint shop, where they are able to receive advice and personalised service with every paint and paint-related product purchase.

The store does away with the practical feel of your everyday DIY outlet in favour of a welcoming, homely ambiance created by posters, large paint swatches – which allow customers to visualise what their choice of paint would look like on their walls at home – and décor books that visitors can browse for new ideas.

The Paint Expert shop concept is modelled on helping customers achieve a paint result rather than a paint purchase. It’s about giving the client an inspirational, in-store experience and providing them with comprehensive information about paint and its application.

“We are so excited to announce that our second Paint Expert concept store is open in Umhlanga,” says Asbury. “This store is at the forefront of paint retailing worldwide. We have unique and innovative concepts in-store that will assist consumers to not only attain the perfect paint result but understand the application process in creating that desired result.”

But it’s not enough to tell people about it, explains Asbury. At the core of the Paint Expert store is the experience and service consumers receive; it’s the only way to understand the value that this unique paint retail concept provides.

Paint Expert is a member of the voluntary buying group called The Paint Club. It is an independent retailer and an exclusive Plascon stockist.

“A true paint expert is not simply being able to advise the consumer of the best product for the application,” says Asbury, “but to truly understand the expected results and to tailor the application process accordingly, while keeping value in mind.”

You can find the new Paint Expert store at Shop 3, Beacon Rock, 21 Lighthouse Road. Call (031) 561 7402. For more information on Paint Expert, visit www.paintexpert.co.za or for more information on Plascon products, visit www.plascon.co.za

  1. We have experienced negative dampness on the walls.

We have stripped the paint a meter above ground level.
We have painted one coat Coprox Masonory for the dampness.
We want to paint with Plascon Micatex on these areas.
    The question I need to ask is;

DO I HAVE TO USE A PRIMER OR CAN I PAINT THE MICATEX DIRECTLY ONTO THE COPROX MASONARY?

    Regards
    Nick

    • Hi Nick, thanks for getting in touch.

We would suggest using a Plaster Primer before application of the Micatex. This will aid adhesion and provide the correct paint system for Micatex application. Waterbased primers will be absorbed by the Coprox and provide an inadequate surface.

    • Hi Dennis, thanks for inquiring with us.

We advise that you apply 1 coat of Plascon Universal Undercoat followed with 2 coats of your chosen Plascon topcoat. Please note that if the coprox is oil-based, then you will first need to slightly sand the surface.

  2. Good Day, please can you assist me. I’m looking for sanding sealer for super wood. I require less than half a liter. Please can you quote me for your smallest quantity available. Regards

    • Hi Dushandren, the Sanding Sealer only comes in a 1lt & 5lt. Unfortunately we do not sell directly to the public. Please visit a Builders Warehouse, Builders Express, Mica Hardware, Midas or Masstores Game for prices.
